چکیده

Like geographical maps, maps of target DNA molecules give locations of “landmarks,” and orient the user by relating each landmark to all others. Maps of DNA are composed special features, or markers, along the molecule, and are useful in sequencing and in homing in on genes. There are two main classes of mapping techniques: genetic mapping is based on statistical analysis of inheritance patterns, and gives a relative ordering of markers used; and, physical mapping is based on physical and biochemical experiments on DNA sequences. In general, there are many different physical mapping techniques which have varying degrees of resolution; we discuss a few at a very high level. We then introduce the STS mapping problem, and describe the PQ-Tree Algorithm, which solves the problem in the case of perfect data. Outline of Maps: A wide variety of mapping strategies are in use. Major ones, roughly in order of increasing resolution, include:

Lecture 11 Sequence Assembly February 10 , 1998 Lecturer : Phil Green Notes :

This is the first of two lectures by Phil Green on “Sequence Assembly.” Yeast and some of the bacterial genomes have already been completely sequenced. There is also a rapidly growing body of known human sequence. All this has been because of our ability to read DNA. This lecture discusses the shotgun strategy for rapid DNA sequencing, and begins discussion of sequence assembly algorithms (to b...

Comparison of Two Teaching Methods on Nursing Students’ Learning and Retention: Concept Mapping or Lecture?

Introduction: Nursing educators should use teaching methods that promote deep learning and retention. The aim of this study was to compare the effects of lecture and concept mapping approaches on the nursing students’ learning and knowledge retention in cardiovascular nursing course. Methods: In a quasi- experimental study on two groups with pre test -post test design, 66 fifth-semester nursin...

Comparison of the Effect of Lecture and Concept Mapping Methods on Students` Learning and Satisfaction

Introduction: Promoting meaningful learning is one of the main objectives of education and an important factor in promoting creative thinking, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities in learners. Also, evaluating students’ learning is a teachers’ duty. The aim of this study was to compare the effect of teaching by lecture or concept mapping on cognitive learning levels of midwifery stud...

An Automatic Lecture Recording System Using Pan-Tilt-Zoom Camera to Track Lecturer and Handwritten Data

For automatic recording of the traditional lecture with a wide blackboard by using a Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) camera, a system, called ACRS (After Class Reviewing System), was proposed. From the point of view of students reviewing the lecture, the handwritten data is more important than the video of the lecturer. So, the handwritten data and the lecturer were considered together to record a lecture ...
